Fabri was a German Dominican, made two pilgrimages to the Holy Land. The first in 1480 and the second in 1483- 84 as chaplain of four German barons, whose Truchsen Johannes von Waldburg who accompanied Breydenbach. It was at their request that he wrote in German a short narrative of their pilgrimage, that it was first composed in Latin.
