The Shammar are a tribal confederation made up of three main branches: the Abdah, the Aslam, and the Zoba. Dhari ibn Tawala was the chief of the Aslam Shammar, a group that also nowadays counts most of his members between Arabia and Iraq. He met John Philby in November 2017, in Zubayr, where the leading tribes leaders had been invited to discuss their involvement in the Arab Revolt.
