The khan is unique in its intricate ornamentation, both geometric and organic. It is a preserved example of the detailed craftsmanship of the traditional Aleppine builder. A portion of it was demolished during the French Mandate while the wide street in front of it was created according to the traditional urban fabric. This khan is one of the largest ones in Aleppo. It follows a traditional plan with merchant's storage areas and stores wrapping the courtyard's perimeter, and sleeping quarters for travelers on the second story.
