This is also a very large copperplate map of the Red Sea showing exact detail of shorelines and islands from Suez to the southern tip of Yemen. Tributaries, islands, and cities are named. Four insets show "Port de Giddah", "Suakem", Matzua et Arkiko", and "Al Babo". Good impression printed on sturdy double-layer paper with full margins. The map Persia extending from the Eastern Mediterranean to Tacalistan and the Indus River with the Red Sea and the Persian Gulf in the South and Caspian and Tartaria in the North. The focus on the map is on Persia, but includes areas of present day Iran, Iraq, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Turkmenistan, Afghanistan, Oman, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait. Hundreds of towns and cities are noted as well as rivers, lakes, and mountain ranges. Show moreHighly decorative rare old map of Morocco published in Amsterdam in 1606 and covers North African coast of Morocco, extending south to Cape Bojador, Canary Islands and Madeira, north to the Spanish Coast with beautiful original coloring. This map in the upper left corner shows Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera. The map was published in the so called "Mercator-Hondius Atlas" by Jodocus Hondius and based upon a map by Gerhard Mercator. The engraver Pieter van der Keere was a Dutch engraver, publisher and globe maker. Hondius republished in the "Mercator-Hondius Atlas", that is now known as one of the most famous atlases from the early 17th century. The Mercator's maps were re-engraved by van der Keere in his distinguished style. Copper engraving. Relief shown pictorially. Title, inset and scale bars in decorative cartouches.Title cartouche has a lion head at top. Embellished with two sailing ships and a sea monster. Show moreThis map was published Amsterdam 1719, and is a detailed map of the Holy Land based on the cartography of Nicolas Sanson. The region is divided according to the territories allotted to the twelve tribes of Israel. Panels of French text listing the bishoprics of Palestine surround the map; also the map extends from Gaza to Sidon and identifies the 12 Tribes and many other historical features. This map comes from volume V of the Atlas Historique published by Chatelain family between 1705 and 1720, and is based on the map of French catógrafo Guillaume de l'Isle. The map is numbered consecutively within its volume and leads the privileges of the States of Holland and West-Friesland with sharp impression and original color. Copper engraving.
