During spring the Sultan used to authorize these outings that were very popular among the Ottoman and Europen elites in Istanbul. The photographs is signed, numbered (998) and titled in the negative. The Armenian brothers became official royal photographers in 1863 and in 1866, at the invitation of the Khedive of Egypt, they opened a branch in Cairo that was closed in 1895.
