Each volume includes a frontispiece, table of contents, list of plates, and list of subscribers. Volumes 1 and 3 also contain errata.
There are maps and charts throughout, including a set of 8 charts of the coasts of Africa, Arabia and western India at the end of vol. 1. The maps and charts are chiefly by Thomas Kitchin or G. Child.
Illustrative plates are chiefly by G. Child or N. Parr.
