Show moreهو حافظ أحمد حسن هندي مسلم وكان يعمل لدى بلاط أمير خان آخر نواب ولاية تونج الواقعة في وسط الهند وبعد سقوط أمارة أمير خان تم نفيه الى أنجلترا وفضل حافظ أحمد حسن مرافقتة وعاش بقية حياتة في أنجلترا.كتاب الحج إلى الكعبة وحي تشارينج كروس وتشارنج كروس هو أحد أحياء لندن القديمة والكتاب عبارة عن سيرة ذاتية يتحدث المؤلف فيها عن طفولته وذكرياتة وخصص الجزء الأكبر من الكتاب للحديث عن رحلته إلى الحج ، وهي رحلة بدأت من بومباي الى جدة سنة 1870 ويقوم بوصف ميناء جدة ثم تحدث عن الحج وأركانه ووصف الحرم وتحدث عن الحجاج وعن الكعبة التي وصفها من الخارج وتحدث عن ماء زمزم ثم أنتقالة الى المدينة وزيارة الأماكن الدينية والتاريخية والقبور وأهمية هذا الكتاب ترجع للمقارنة بين كتابات الرحالة الأجانب والرحالة المسلمين .وطبع الكتاب في لندن بدون تاريخ لسنة النشر.
