Show moreAl-Ittihadiya Palace, also known as Al-Orouba Palace or Heliopolis Palace Hotel, is located in Heliopolis (Mars El gedida), Cairo. Currently the the official workplace of the Egyptian Presidency, the palace was designed by the Belgian architect Ernest Jaspar (1876-1940) using Neo-Mamluk architecture guidelines that typically characterised the original Heliopolis style. It was opened in December 1910 by a French company that premiered the first luxurious hotels in Africa. It was the largest hotel in the Middle East and Africa at the time.
