Helwan is a city located near Cairo on the bank of the Nile and was known to be a fashionable place to visit for its nice location near the water, its beautiful architecture and plenty of spas. The poster shows a fountain under an arbor with the sun and an oriental building on the background. The poster was issued for the Ministry of Tourism when Egypt was part of the United Arab Republic (U.A.R.), the political union between Egypt and Syria which lasted from 1958 until 1961.
