First ed. pub. in 1735 under title: A voyage to Barbary, for the redemption of captives.
According to the Bodleian Library record, this is a translation by Joseph Morgan of Philémon de la Motte's 'Voyage pour la redemption des captifs aux royaumes d'Alger et de Tunis', which was first published in English in the same year as 'Voyage to Algiers and Tunis, for the redemption of captives'. However, other libraries attribute the work to Jean de La Faye.

Show moreA large scale topographic map of Matrah and Maskat (modern Muttrah and Muscat) made by F.S. Weller, a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society to accompany a paper by Captain Arthur William Stiffe. Stiffe was the co-author of the famous "Persian Gulf Pilot" books for navigating the Gulf. Topography is indicated by contour lines though no information as to their height is given. Settled areas are indicated by grey shading. Palm trees indicated agricultural areas around the settlements. The map also shows important pathways and passes.
