The author of this history was a Jesuit Procurator and secretary interpreter to the Bishop of Isfahan. It is a history of Persia in Safavid times up to 1727, the year of the Afghan invasion which led to the fall of the Safavid dynasty and also offers an overview on the historical processes of early 18th-Century Safavid Iran.
