Highly decorative rare old map of Morocco published in Amsterdam in 1606 and covers North African coast of Morocco, extending south to Cape Bojador, Canary Islands and Madeira, north to the Spanish Coast with beautiful original coloring. This map in the upper left corner shows Peñón de Vélez de la Gomera. The map was published in the so called "Mercator-Hondius Atlas" by Jodocus Hondius and based upon a map by Gerhard Mercator. The engraver Pieter van der Keere was a Dutch engraver, publisher and globe maker. Hondius republished in the "Mercator-Hondius Atlas", that is now known as one of the most famous atlases from the early 17th century. The Mercator's maps were re-engraved by van der Keere in his distinguished style.
