<note>First edition, first issue, of an extensively illustrated book devoted to hunting and falconry. It is charmingly designed, with rococo decorations, probably the main reason it has been described as a "well printed book" (Schwerdt), but the plates are skillfully engraved and lightly inked so that they reveal every detail of the engraving. The first part is devoted to the hunting of a wide variety of animals including the deer, boar, hare, wolf, fox, ermine, etc., while the second includes an extensive essay on falconry. The illustrations show hunting scenes, hunting dogs, traps, the various animals hunted and details of their horns, hooves, feces, etc., and in the second part 13 plates showing birds of prey, including a Eurasian eagle-owl and several species of falcon. The folding plate shows a deer-hunting scene. The engraver is erroneously identified by some bibliographers as "Hallou". "C'est à peu près le seul ouvrage cynégétigue illustré qui est été publié en France au XVIIIe siècle" (Souhart). The book was reissued with a new title-page in 1776. - In fine condition, with only occasional very slight foxing foxing. The binding very good, with a small tear repaired, a couple tiny worm holes and the corners bumped.</note>
