    <abstract type="Summary">Between 1815 and 1822, the French explorer Frédéric Cailliaud documented the artworks and texts he found in the major archaeological sites of Egypt and Sudan. Among the multitude of tomb paintings, he focused on recording practical aspects of daily life, such as this depiction of artisans refining a sculpture.   </abstract>
