Miniatures depicting local people and working scenes, with motifs of different castes or trades. Paintings show typical tools and differences in costumes. Indian artists produced these series to show India in a comprehendible manner to the western eye, presenting local folk life in an aesthetic way. They were often sold as souvenirs for a European public in the 18th and 19th centuries.
