The album collects photographs by the major photographers active in the Middle East at the end of the XIX century. Images include: statues and art crafts from the Museum of Gizah; Egyptian antiquities (pyramids, temples, hieroglyphics); Islamic architectures in Cairo (tombs, the Citadel, mosques and mashrabiyas); views of the streets of Cairo (hotels and bazaars); staged portraits of local people (artisans, women, peasants and musicians); the Nile river with traditional boats and ports., Title from item, date devised by Library staff. Album with vellum-bound, in golden letter and ornaments. The album consists of 24 pages. Prints are pasted on both sides. On the paste-down there is a scratched ex libris "Metropolitan Museum of Art.
