The Djamaʽa el Djedid (الجامع الجديد) mosque in Algiers. During the French colonial rule, the mosque was called the "Mosquée de la Pêcherie" and in English the Mosque of the Fisherman's Wharf (Mesdjed el-Haoutin). The French photographer Alphonse de Launay was introduced to photography by Gustave Le Gray (1820-1884). He traveled in France and abroad, especially to Algeria and Spain.
