Jacques-Phillipe Potteau was a member of the anthropology department at the Museum D'Histoire Naturelle in Paris and succeeded Louis Rousseau as the department photographer. Between 1860 and 1869 he made a series of ethnographical portraits for the museum, such as the present one., Title and date from item.
