Show moreخريطة لشبة الجزيرة العربية لرسام الخرايط الالماني كرستوفر فايجل (Christopher Weigel)، وقام بنشرها سنة 1720م بنورمبيرج بالمانيا، وتظهر في الخريطة العربية السعيدة والعربية البتراء، كما تتضمن مناطق من بلاد النهرين وفلسطين وبلاد فارس والحبشة ومصر، وتعتمد الخريطة على نفس اسماء المدن والقبايل التي استخدمها بطليموس في خرايطة، وتركز الخريطة على الاجزاء الوسطى والشرقية من شبة الجزيرة العربية، وتظهر الخريطة بعض الجزر القريبة من البحرين، وتذكر قطر على الخريطة باسم"كتارا" لكن ليس بشكل دقيق من حيث الموقع والشكل، والخريطة ملونة ويحتوي اطار الخريطة على عدد تسع قطع من النقود المعدنية المزخرفة. Original copy is hand-colored double-page engraved map with large pictorial cartouche depecting figures, camels, and ships. One of the first maps to show internal features of the Arabian Peninsula. Mountains are depicted, oases denoted by trees, and points used to indicate pearl deposits in the Arabian Gulf. Dotted lines to show international borders. The Red Sea is denoted by three Latin names: Mare Rubrum, Mare Mecca, and Sinus Arabicus (Arabian Gulf) ; Sinus Persicus, and Mare Elcatif (al-Qatif Sea) for the Persian Gulf. Relief shown pictorially Text states the map was translated into Turkish in 967 (Oct. 1559 to Sept. 1560). One of 11 known surviving copies of the 24 impressions printed in 1795 from six woodcut blocks when found in the archives of the Council of Ten in Venice.
