Elaborately illustrated, encyclopedic work on horses. All aspects of the horse are described by Eugène Alix, veterinary, including their appearance, different races, their reproduction, their entire anatomy and their organs, etc. Appealingly illustrated with anatomical colour plates with movable parts by Édouard Cuyer, painter and anatomist at the National Art Academy at Paris and professor of anatomy at the Rouen Academy of Arts. Some foxing throughout, but a nice set in the orginal bindings. Not in Graesse or Brunet.
At head of title: E. Cuyer et E. Alix.
Plates signed: Ed. Cuyer, del. et pinx.; Imp. Lemercier & Cie., Paris.
