The three servants depicted in the picture are the so-called aghas, the Abyssinian guardians of the Prophet's Mosque; aghas were responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the holy mosques and they also guarded the Prophet ’s tomb. Two aghas sit to the left and right of the seated shaykh, while the third servant stands behind him. All of them are looking into the camera.
