Show moreAbu Walid Muhammad ibis Ahmad Ibn Muhammad IBN RUSHID known as AVERROES The Commentator of Aristotle, Ibn Rushd (1126-98), was the most celebrated philosopher of Andalusia and one of the greatest of Muslim intellectuals. He was also a physician, and his medical works together with his philosophical writings were profoundly influential in Christian Europe as well as in the Islamic world. Along with Ibn Tufzyl and lbn Zuhr, Ibn Rushd enjoyed the patronage of Prince AbuYaqub Yusuf while he ruled at Seville and was appointed Qadi there. He also lived in Marrakech and Cordoba, The Kulliyyat (Generalities) is Ibn Rushds major medical work and a century later it was translated to Latin in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries it was often reprinted, Abu Marwãn IBN ZUHR, known as AVENZOAR Abu Marwan (c.1092-1161) was descended horn a learned Arabian family who settled in Spain early in the tenth century.
