Jawhari's fame rests on his dictionary Tād̲j̲ al-lug̲h̲a wa-ṣiḥāḥ al-ʿarabiyya, commonly known as al-Ṣiḥāḥ or al-Ṣaḥāḥ, which represents a milestone in the development of Arabic lexicography. He used the last radical of the roots as the primary basis for the arrangament of the Ṣiḥāḥ. For centuries it was the most widely used Arabic dictionary and was abridged, rearranged, supplemented, commented upon, and translated into Persian and Turkish.
